A
Word From the Director:
January 20th,
2004
In the summer of 2003 David Garrison and I (Tony Garmon) were
driving back from a job that our survey company was doing.
You see, I had just recently been hired by David to
work for Design Projects Surveyors. We talked about
my time during college studying film at Georgia State University,
why I moved home from L.A., and of course OUR favorite movie
Raiders of the Lost Ark. This discussion led
to an idea of making a fan filmbased on the movie. During
January 2004 I decided to test the water on what kind of support
that David and I could get from the guys around us on making
the movie. At first I thought everyone would think that
we were crazy, but to my surprise, everyone said that it sounded
like fun. Next came the fun part... a script.
David and I spent many lunches talking about what would be
a good script, but easy to produce at the same time.... that's
when we came up with Indiana Jones and the Staff of Ra. Days
later I was on my computer writing the script. This
script was not as easy as the feature length scripts that
I was writing because I had to tell a story in 30 to 40 minutes.
Well, in a few nights I was finished and knew right
then that we had something special. We started filming in
May and have led up to today. Its been tough trying
to work around schedules so we have had to shoot out of sequence,
of course. With only a few Saturdays to work with and
little time on those days, David and I have received nothing
but hard work from everyone working on the film. We
have had a wonderful time and lots of fun. Being the
only one with experience in acting, I have been nothing more
than amazed with the quality of acting and the taking of direction
that I have seen with everyone in this film. We are
pulling some of our best material after the first takes....
which is wonderful with the little time that we have together.
So finally, I give thanks to everyone that helped in
any way with this film and to all of the people that take
the time to watch our hard work.
Thanks,
Tony Garmon
