To
celebrate Christmas, The Indy Experience.com wishes to share a new
addition to the Art Gallery that we have received:
- The
Artwork of Gregory Slevin - Gregory
Slevin has sent us a collection of his Indiana Jones artwork.
Along with this, we hope to see more work from Greg in the months
to come.
I
had at first planned to launch several new features for Christmas,
but due to the recent crash and server switch, I was forced to stick
to a new addition to the art gallery. In any case, hope
you all enjoy the new addition to the art gallery, and we at The Indy
Experience would like to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and
a Happy New Year!

Coming
Soon's The Movie Guy has got an audio interview with Mr. John
Rhys-Davies where he talks about his role as Gimli in Lord of the
Rings: The Return of the King and his character, Sallah from Raiders
of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
In the interview, Mr. Davies touches base on the status of Indiana
Jones IV and if it will be made.
In
the interview, he gave a quick overview of what sort of situations
he had seen with the script and the actors and how everyone is saying
THIS is the year. He also mentioned that he did not see a role
for the old Sallah and also suggested that they get a new director,
and a new Indiana.
But
in the end he poised the question, will another Indiana Jones film
be made? And according to Sallah, it will happen. A great
interview, wonderful to hear from Mr. Davies. To listen to the
full interview with Real Audio, visit Coming

Lowry Article at Apple.com
December
16th,
2003 | Posted by Aaron
Apple.com
has posted an article about the restoration of the Indiana Jones Trilogy
for the Indy DVD release. The article gives an in depth look
at the work that went into restoring the films for DVD. Here's
an excerpt:
If
you’re a real fan, you already own the recently-released “Adventures
of Indiana Jones” (”Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “The Temple of Doom,”
“The Last Crusade”) DVD set, and you like what you see: ridiculously
clear images, bonus documentary, nice extras.
Chances
are you’d be equally impressed by what you don’t see, conspicuous
flaws removed from the films by master digital restorer Lowry Digital
Images. “One of the biggest problems we had with ‘Raiders,’” says
CEO John Lowry, “was a blue line cutting across the actors’ faces
right down the center of the first part of the movie, about 35,000
frames of scratches.”
And
if you’re loading the movie now to look for traces of the scratch,
don’t bother. Lowry’s digital botox, powerful proprietary software
running on a formidable stack of Power Macs, removed all traces of
the unsightly line that distracted so persistently from the more compelling
vertical furrows on the brow of Harrison Ford.
Great
article, a lot of good information, and you can learn a lot about
the restoration process and the equipment used as well.

Struzan: Oeuvre Delayed

Just
received a press release stating that the new Drew Struzan artwork
book has been delayed until next year. Here is the official
press release:
DREW
STRUZAN: OEUVRE TO BE RELEASED IN THE NEW YEAR
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
December
9, 2003 - Due to unforeseen circumstances
and the necessity to preserve the desired quality of the work, Dreamwave
Productions' publication of Drew Struzan: Oeuvre
has been rescheduled for a later date.
"A decision had to be made," Struzan explains, "a book
of lesser quality now or the book we have all been anticipating with
the quality we wish but at a later date. We opted to postpone for
quality sake because the book will be out there for all time and it
must represent the artwork as it is meant to be seen. Our regrets
for the delay, but we believe that patience will pay off in the quality
you deserve."
Drew Struzan is best known for his painted posters for movies such
as Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and more, making him one of
the most prolific poster artists of all time. Drew Struzan:
Oeuvre is a biographical look at the artist's ability to
overcome hardship to fulfill his dreams and in turn leave his mark
in pop culture history. The book also collects Struzan's incredible
body of work in one complete volume.
Dreamwave Productions is honored to be publishing Drew Struzan's collection,
and also agrees that the quality of such an amazing artist should
never be sacrificed. "We are working very hard to bring the book
to the fans as soon as possible and we apologize for the delay,"
Pat Lee, president of Dreamwave, explains, "We thank you for
your patience and support. This anticipated book will be out very
soon!"
Source:
Candice Chan, PRM, Dreamwave Productions
This
could be considered bad news, but then again it's good news.
We may have to wait, but when the book finally arrives, we know that
we're getting the best there is. Stay tuned!

So if you have sent any email to the following accounts:

if you have sent in any captions during that time period, they have

Talk of Ford's Age
December 10th,
2003 | Posted by Aaron
The
entertainment gossip site, iafrica
has posted an article, a rather optimistic article (compared to what
we've seen in the past) about Harrison Ford and his age concerning
Indiana Jones 4:
Harrison
Ford, like Collins, has been in the public eye for decades. But, thankfully,
he’s not going nuts to try to compete with ever-younger stars. Ford’s
more than happy to be over 60, it seems — even if others need a little
convincing…
“Harrison's
been talking to Steven Spielberg (director of the new ‘Indiana Jones’
movie Harrison is starring in) and George Lucas (the film’s writer
and producer) and the project is moving along quicker that anticipated,”
says a movie source. “Harrison's ready to go but he's told them he's
not about to kill himself getting ready for filming because he wants
to bring another aspect to the character. He's 61 now and he's been
around the block long enough to know there's no point trying to pass
himself off as a 30 year old anymore.”
Many
people in LA are still trying, though. But, like it or not — movie
bosses are going to have to accept that people will notice that Indiana
has aged a little since his last adventure.
Interesting
article, nothing new, but it's good to see that not everybody is saying
Indy IV won't succeed due to Ford's age. Well keep you up to
date!

Indy
IV to Film in Hawaii?
December
8th,
2003 | Posted by Aaron
JP4HQ
got word that both Jurassic Park IV and Indiana Jones IV
would be filming for about 8 weeks next Summer:
I
just recently took a trip to Kauai, Hawaii, and took Bob's Hawaii
Movie Tours' 4X4 tour. I asked the tour guide which upcoming films
were slated for shooting on the island, and he said, I quote: "Jurassic
Park 4" is shooting here next summer, at the same time as "Indiana
Jones 4". Indy 4 is scheduled to shoot for 8 weeks, but the time
for JP4 hasn't been specified yet." I asked about the director
for JP4: "Kathleen Kennedy is directing."
This
definitely coincides with all the rumors we've been hearing, but still
it's JUST a rumor at this point. Sounds like things are heating
up for a Summer 2004 - I think if you've been planning a trip to Hawaii,
this will be the best time as ever! ;)

thanks to Coming

Indiana
Jones Action Figure Contest
has official ended! No more entries will be accepted, and we
thank everyone who entered and hope you all enjoyed the challenge!
A very special thanks to Harry
Moore for sponsoring the contest!
Just
for fun, the location of the manuscript was at the bottom of the Emperor's
Tomb page and the manuscript's translation was:
"The
Prophecy will be fulfilled.
Indiana
Jones shall return."
I'm
surprised at how many people got it right, not a single incorrect
entry, so everyone who sent in their translations will have a chance!
The names of the contestants will be placed in a hat and randomly
selected. The winner will be announced tomorrow, so stay
tuned!

Results
of the DVDX Awards -
December
4th,
2003 | Posted by Aaron
The
results of the DVDX Awards that was held on December 2nd are
in at DVD
Answers. For those of you who wish to wait until the special
airs on FX next Wednesday, might want to wait on viewing the
winners from the awards.
Sadly,
the Indiana Jones DVDs did not win the two categories it was nominated
for. The Alien Quadrilogy beat out Indy for the best
classic film series (I image that only counts for the first to films...)
As for the best documentary, Michael Arrick's documentary West
Side Memories won in that category. A bit surprising, I
would have thought Indy would have won the best classic film series.
Looking
on the bright side, it's good that the Indy DVDs got nominated.
Even with the exposure and build up of the release, (and not to mention
it's the best selling box set of all time), the people who decide
who wins must not be thinking clearly.

check out the full results, visit DVD
Answers.
