Old Indy 4 Draft: Saucer Men From Mars
December 23rd, 2005 | Posted by Aaron
"Moedred" has sent us a copy of Indiana Jones and the Saucer Men From Mars written in 1995, which he obtained and then typed into Word. According to Moedred, this is an official copy of the script which was drafted by Jeb Stuart (Die Hard, The Fugitive), and was at one time the script for Indiana Jones 4 but was later scrapped. TIE.c now has the script avaliable for download in our Old Indiana Jones 4 Script Drafts page:
Indiana Jones and the Saucer Men From Mars
Screenplay by Jeb Stuart
Story by George Lucas and Jeb Stuart
• Word Document (72 KB)
• Notepad (48 KB)
Please note: this is NOT the final draft of the Indiana Jones 4 script that will be used when the film is made (unless the big three change their minds). This is an old draft of an old story, but as far as we know it is a genuine script written by Jeb Stuart for Lucasfilm. Indeed, a piece of Indiana Jones history. And from what Moedred tells me, this script has not been avaliable online for quite some time (if ever). So, enjoy!

Paramount Buys Dreamworks for $1.6 Billion
December 10th, 2005 | Posted by Aaron
FOXNews.com did a story on why Spielberg's latest film Munich is catching some negative vibes from critics. The story also talked about Paramount's recent purchase of Spielberg's studio, Dreamworks for quite a hefty price tag:
"It doesn't help that "Munich" is getting some poor notices just as Spielberg's studio, Dreamworks, has been reportedly sold to Paramount for $1.6 billion. "Munich" is a co-production with Universal, the major studio that opted not to buy Dreamworks after a lengthy negotiation.
But Universal may have guessed the obvious: Spielberg's next movie, "Indiana Jones 4," certain to be a mega blockbuster, is parked at Paramount — something not lost, I am certain, on the Paramount/Viacom execs. By buying Dreamworks, Paramount secures Spielberg and reaps all benefits of working with him. If "Indy 4" is made, and is indeed a $500 million hit, the Dreamworks price tag won't look so bad."
And there's no doubt in my mind: Indiana Jones 4 will be the very definition of a box office hit. For more on Paramount's purchase of Dreamworks, check out Variety.com for the full story. Stay tuned for the latest!

Lucasfilm has released their new holiday greeting card with artwork by Christian Alzmann. New Rumored Production Date for Indy 4
December 8th, 2005 | Posted by Aaron
Animated News reported on an article from the magazine Below the Line that supposedly had confirmation on the production dates for several films including Indiana Jones 4. According to the site's report, the production date for Indy 4 is "mid 2006", which seems to coincide with what Spielberg has said in the past. However, with no insider sources or official annoucements to back this news up, we'll leave this as a rumor for right now. If it is true, then it is indeed good news for Indiana Jones 4, but there's no way to know for sure if this information is legit.

Lucas is Devoting Himself Full-Time to Indy 4
December 6th, 2005 | Posted by Aaron
George Lucas flew into New York yesterday to attend the big premiere of King Kong. There, Lucas spoke with FOXNews, where he spoke about his tweaking of Jeff Nathanson's Indiana Jones 4 screenplay, assuring fans that it won't last forever:
So the big news is that Lucas is now devoting himself full-time to writing and producing "Indiana Jones 4." Steven Spielberg, of course, will direct.
Lucas told me that he's got a script now from Jeff Nathanson, and he's tweaking it. That won't go on forever, he assured me, and filming will occur before Harrison Ford goes into a nursing home.
This should be very assuring to fearful fans, who have been doubting whether or not Indiana Jones 4 will ever happen. Now we know that work is contin
uing on the script (but hopefully not for long) and that Lucas is behind the project 100%. In the past, Lucas has been the biggest hold-up that Indy 4 has faced, but now it seems that all is moving forward. Stay tuned, Indy 4 is on the way and TIE.c will be right here to keep you up to date!
Big thanks to Eddie for letting me know!
Kasdan to Receive WGA's Screen Laurel Award
December 3rd, 2005 | Posted by Aaron
On Thursday, the WGA announced that Lawrence Kasdan would be receiving the Screen Laurel Award for his achievements in the art of screenwriting. Kasdan's writing credits include The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi and of course Raiders of the Lost Ark.
"Most of us would be satisfied to have written one film that was seen by everyone on the plane, Lawrence Kasdan wrote a handful of them and made them masterworks to boot. He makes art. He makes blockbusters. He makes movies." Said WGA West president Patric Verrone. Kasdan's many contributions to film over the years are truly remarkable, and this award is highly deserved and long overdue. Mr. Kasdan will receive his award at the WGA's annual awards show on February 4th, 2006.
Thanks to Eddie and Backstage.com for the news.
