Frank Darabont: Indy IV Script Complete!
January 30th, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

In an article in Variety, Indiana Jones 4 scribe Frank Darabont confirms that his script for the fourth film has been completed:

The sequel may shoot this year with Harrison Ford starring, Steven Spielberg directing and George Lucas executive producing. Paramount is hoping to distribute the film in 2005. "I've finished my work, so now it's in the hands of God, or Spielberg and Lucas if you prefer," said Darabont.

This is another great leap we have taken towards Indy IV's completion.  It's only a matter of time!  Production is to begin this summer for a July 1st or 4th 2005 release date.  Stay tuned for the latest!

Thanks to Coming Soon!

John Rhys-Davies Still Waiting for the Call...
January 27th, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

This may be a few days old, but it is still worthy to point out that IGN's FilmForce conducted an interview with the man who brought Sallah to life in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - John Rhys-Davies.  About half way into the interview, the topic of Indiana Jones IV came up, and this is what Mr. Rhys-Davies had to say:

IGNFF: See, and I also promised myself not to ask you a single Indiana Jones question, either…

RHYS-DAVIES: Oh, well you're allowed to!

IGNFF: The only one anyone ever asks you is when a sequel's happening…

RHYS-DAVIES: They do that all the time. It's so funny – everyone, but me, knows that there is a sequel definitely happening, they know that it's in the works, that it's about to be made, that's already cast, really. The question is – am I in it or aren't I in it? I get very despondent that my phone hasn't rung, but I was sort of elated the other day when I think Connery got up at a press conference and he said, "Well my phone hasn't rung either!"

IGNFF: People ask you the question as if they believe you're a writer and a producer on the film…

RHYS-DAVIES: Oh, that's right! I'm so obviously, clearly, an intimate of Lucas, Spielberg, and Harrison Ford. My phone rings all the time – they're always saying, "John John John, do you think we should do this? What do you feel about this?"

IGNFF: "Where do you see Sallah going, John? Since the character is yours, we feel we should consult with you at every moment…"

RHYS-DAVIES: Oh absolutely. Yes, yes… I can't get them off the line!

IGNFF: That's why they installed that red phone hotline for you…

RHYS-DAVIES: That's right! They're just bumming me for ideas all the time.

Should this bring up the same old question as to IF Indiana Jones IV will happen?  No.  Not at all, as far as everyone is concerned Indy IV's status is the same as it's been for months.  But what this interview does give you is a glimpse at how it all works behind the scenes.  John Rhys-Davies is still waiting for the call, still waiting to be asked to play Sallah in Indy IV.  All in all, nothing really new here, but still a good read for any fan.

You can read the full interview here.

New Indy-Inspired Figure: Adventure Kermit!
January 20th, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

There's a new Indiana Jones inspired collector figure on the market, and his name is Kermit!  Palisades Toys has created a convention exclusive Kermit action figure, Adventure Kermit.  Here are some photos from a recent issue of ToyFare Magazine:

"This is one we'll take to every show we attend," says Ken Lilly, Palisades' director of product development, of their 2004 Tour figure (think last year's Tour Animal).  An all-new sculpt, Kermit's docked out in "explorer" gear-as seen in the 1991 TV special, The Muppets at Walk Disney World.  As a bonus, Palisades will be holding a contest to win a gold plated life-size version of the Gonzo idol.  Palisades will hand out a treasure map of booths that sell their products at each show and fans can collect stamps at each booth for a chance to win!"

The figure looks to be a real treat.  Kermit comes with a magnetic hat, satchel, whip, gun, sandbag and of course, a Golden Gonzo Idol!  Sounds like a wonderful collector's figure!  To purchase Adventure Kermit, you'll have to register at Palisades Toys ($50 for membership) or you can visit one of the conventions that will be presenting the toy:

Orlando Mega Con (March 5-7), Wizard World Los Angeles (March 15-21), Pittsburgh Comiccon (April 30-May 2), Wizard World East (May 21-May23), San Diego Comic-Con International (July 22-25), Wizard World Chicago (August 13-15), Baltimore Comic-Con (TBD), and Wizard World Dallas (October 1-3).

So, how much Adventure Kermit cost you?  Only $15, which is surprising for what it is, and the chance to win a life-size Gonzo Idol doesn't hurt .Big thanks to 'pschtyckque' from Club Obi-Wan and Nos4a2 from the Palisades Forum for the news and pictures!

Sallah to Appear at London Film & Comic Con!
January 16th, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

You may recall from last year when Showmasters hosted a wonderful convention in London where they featured stars from the Indiana Jones films including Paul Freeman, John Rhys-Davies, Julian Glover and David Yip.

On March 6th & 7th, Showmasters is presenting the first ever London Film & Comic Con where their guest will include John Rhys-Davies (Sallah in Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade)!  TIE.c is planning to attend and we'll do our best to keep you updated on the convention if you are unable to attend.  This looks to be a great opportunity for fans to meet some of their favorite stars from their favorite movies.

The convention will host a number of famous stars, original film props and costumes, including autograph sessions with the stars on both Saturday and Sunday as well as prizes and other attractions.

The convention will be held at the Wembly Exhibition Center (next to Wembley Stadium).  Visit London Film & Comic Con for more information and details on where to stay and pricing.

We'll see you there!

NYPress Criticizes the Indiana Jones DVDs
January 15th, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

NYPress has posted a very critical review of the Indiana Jones DVDs.  I must say, it would take a very pessimistic person to slam something like the Indy DVDs, and Jim Knipfel of the NYPress seems to have accomplished that task.  Not only does he criticize the bonus features, he also conveys his negative take on Harrison Ford and the trilogy itself:

So in the first one, the heads explode and melt; in the second one, you get the bugs and that guy gets his heart ripped out; and in the third one, not a whole lot happens, but a guy gets real old really fast and then turns to dust.

That pretty much sums it up.

If you wish to read the full review, you can find it here: NYPress.  Thanks to Spielbergfilms for the link.
