Ford Talks Indy IV With PlayBoy
June 28th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

USA Today reported that Harrison Ford spoke with PlayBoy magazine where he talked about his "dedication" to playing the role of Indiana Jones in the fourth film:

"Actor Harrison Ford says he would never forgive filmmakers Steven Spielberg and George Lucas if they tried to replace him in the upcoming Indiana Jones sequel. "First I'd tell them to go (expletive) themselves, then I'd kill them. I'd kill them," he tells Playboy. Ford, 59, said he had no problem walking away from the latest Tom Clancy film, The Sum of All Fears, which stars Ben Affleck. "I hated the script. (It was) dated and unworkable."

Well I would hope Ford would do what ever it took be Indiana Jones, and I'm sure Spielberg and Lucas are all for Harrison playing Indy once again. Stay tuned for more updates!

Ford Talks Indy IV With E!
June 25th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight Ford was asked about Indy IV and here's what he had to say:

ET: Have you started Shooting?
Ford: "No, no we haven't have a script yet we're thinking about a concept and trying to put together a scrip that we can agree on"
ET: Are you looking forward to going back to that?
Ford: "Sure I'd love to make another one of those films they're great fun for the audience and they're great fun for me to make."
ET: Are you looking forward to working with Steven?
Ford: "Oh yeah."
ET: Will this be the last one?
Ford: "Oh I don't know, never say never."

And there you have it, right from Ford's mouth. This is pretty much what I expected, I hope that this gives sets the record straight. We'll keep you up to date!

Ford Talks Indy IV Time Line
June 25th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

Cinescape posted more on their interview with Ford on Indy IV. He confirmed that Indy IV is going to take place in the 1950's: “It is, yeah,” He also went into more detail as to what kind of delays they may be faced with. Here's what he had to say:

"It’s not like aligning planets to get Ford, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas free to do the project, Ford laughed, “It’s more like getting the Supremes back together. Everybody has there own separate projects and the main thing is time. Everybody’s got separate projects and we have a date and we have an idea and we’ll see how it happens… You know there are three players here whose expectations have to be met. George, Steven, myself. So if we can all agree on something I hope we’ll be able to do it.”

He then went on to talk about how much he enjoys working with Lucas and Spielberg:

“The projects that we’ve done together have been very good for me and we are friends and it’s always a pleasure to work with people you have a long relationship with,” he told us. “I certainly have an understanding of how seminal those projects were in the development of my career.”

Well, there you have it, we now know for sure that Indy IV takes place in the 50's, and what we might have to deal with in the ways of delays. But don't give up hope, Indy IV's coming, like I always say, it's just a matter of time.

Bad News About Doom Raiders
June 25th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

I'm very sorry to say this, but Doom Raiders has been removed from our site, being it was a large file, it caused a major slow down in bandwidth, but I'll be there to help the creators find a new host. Sorry everybody! I can't express how sorry I am, but it's too big a film, but it's still great.

Ford On Access Hollywood!
June 24th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

Bob Klein informed me about Access Hollywood's interview with Ford where he talked about Indy IV. He confirms that the ordeal with Flockhart was a rumor, he never intended for her to be in it. (Yes!) He also said; that there's still no script, but they have been throwing around some ideas and they still need a good one to use. Thanks again Bob! Check back for more updates!

StarWars.com Interviews Lucas!
June 24th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

StarWars.com featured an interview with Lucas on Indy IV where he stated that he's excited about doing a fourth film, and he feels it's the right time. Here's what SW.com posted:

Frank Darabont has been selected to write the screenplay for a fourth Indiana Jones movie, based on a story by George Lucas. Steven Spielberg will once again direct, Lucas will be the executive producer, and Harrison Ford will star in the film. Frank Marshall will again serve as producer.

"I'm excited to be able to revisit a character I created a generation ago," Lucas said. "Steven, Harrison and I have wanted to do this for some time, and this feels like the right moment."

In addition to the earlier three films, Lucas created The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, a multi-award winning television series. Darabont wrote several episodes of the series. He also wrote the screenplays for, and directed, The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.

Pretty rock-solid coming from StarWars.com! Well, Indy IV's as good as done, it's just a matter of time. We'll keep you updated!

Ford's Talk With MuchMusic!
June 24th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

Coming Soon broke the news about Ford appearance on Much Music:

"Today Harrison Ford stopped by the Canadian music channel Much Music to talk about K19. He also talked a bit about Indy 4. He said that he can't say much about it except that it takes place in a different time than the others and that there isn't a script yet, but that there is an IDEA for a script. He also said not to believe stuff you read on the net bc it's all fake (well....you should believe this....what I'm writing is NOT fake....he was really at Much Music. HONEST!). At one point someone in the crowd yelled out "Sean Connery" while he was talking about Indy 4 but from Harrison's reaction it seemed as though Herny Jones Sr. wouldn't be in this one. But who knows? We can always hope!"

Well, I'm extremely glad to hear a more up-beat tone from Ford, but it seems that with every news story that answers one question, it leaves us with two more to wonder about. He says it takes place in a different time and place, and Connery might not be in it. While it's not FOR SURE, Connery could still make a cameo, but it's all very uncertain at this point as you all know. But will keep you up to date!

Sallah In Indy IV and More on Indy's Son!
June 24th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

AICN got word from a spy that while shooting some retakes for LOTR, John-Rhys-Davis said that he plans to be in the fourth installment of Indiana Jones! The spy also spoke of Tom Hanks' son, Colin Hanks will be in Indy IV! Here's more:

"I have a small piece of news on the new "Indiana Jones" movie. Did you know, Colin Hanks will have a role in the film. Yes, Tom's son. The larger than life, Jonathan Rhys Davies is here doing some reshoots for "Lord of the Rings" and told our TV station PRIME this week that a new Indiana Jones Movie is in the works, which by the sounds of it, he has a role in...I remember he had a role in one of the other films?? Now, he says he knows nothing of the story but that some of his Indy's old girlfriends will appear in the film, as will Sean Connery as his Dad and Spielberg's pal, Tom Hanks, has talked the director into putting young Colin in the film too. As yet he doesn't know...but I read somewhere Indy had a son???"

Wow, so it wasn't Tom Hanks himself, it was his son! Well, so far we have Hanks, Davis, and Connery as rumored cast members, all we need now is the next female heroine and a bad guy then we're good to go! Hopefully this is true, we certainly need Davis and Connery, don't know much about Colin, we'll have to wait and see how he does, if the rumor is true. We'll keep you up to date!

More on Ford's Fears of Indy IV
June 21st, 2002| Posted by Aaron

E! Online interviewed Ford on the issue of Indy IV. They talked about the battle between Lucas and Spielberg on the issue of digital film vs. Good ol' Fashioned 35mm. Here's what Ford had to say:

"It's a question of what our collaborative capacity is, working with George Lucas and Steven Spielberg," says Ford. "It's [about] all of us working together with our combined ambition to make a film which is as good as the ones we made before." As Whoopi once said, "Let me try it in my own way: It ain't on yet, girl."

While to some people, including me, Indy IV is closer than it's ever been before. I'm amazed at the news we've been receiving over the past months, and to say the least it's coming, but the question is, how soon? While we do have a release date, will the struggles of film making cause Indy IV to be delayed? Sure hope not. We'll keep you up to date.

Calista Flockhart in Indy IV!?
June 21st, 2002| Posted by Aaron

This came as a big surprises, IMDB reported that Harrison Ford's girlfriend Calista Flockhart might be appearing in Indy IV. Here's what IMDB said:

A source says, "Harrison Ford had only one demand when he was approached about doing a fourth Indiana Jones movie that Calista be written into the new movie. Luckily, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas loved the idea. They think Calista will be a perfect romantic interest for Indiana. The Indy team had no idea what to do with Indy for the fourth movie. Bringing Calista on board gave them inspiration and they dreamed up the whole story in just a few hours. Getting Calista into the movie was the kick-in-the-pants the guys needed."

I'm shocked to say the least, for some reason I never saw this coming. Now this is a rumor mind you, and IMDB has put claim to some stories not entirely true, so until Spielberg confirms it, DON'T believe it. We'll keep you up to date.

Ford Unsure About Indy IV?
June 20th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

Cinescape reported that Harrison Ford spoke at a press conference for his newest film, K-19: The Widowmaker where he said he wasn't sure about Indy IV. He didn't appear to have the enthusiasm that Spielberg and Lucas have shown in other interviews. Here's some of what he said:

“Well, it’s official that we have an ambition to make the film, but unless we get a script that we’re all happy with, I don’t think it’s sure that will happen,” the cautious-speaking Ford told reporters. “So, I’m very happy about the fact that we’ve all committed to a certain idea, and we’re developing it and hoping it will be fruitful.”

A scary thought to think Harrison Ford's not as excited about Indy IV as the rest of us. He also spoke on his age and if people would accept it:

“The audience will understand and appreciate that Indiana Jones has grown older, but he’ll still be Indiana Jones- finding himself in the same kind of dilemmas, using the same strengths to prevail over those circumstances. I don’t think it’s a problem. I personally don’t think growing older is very much of an issue.”

Well, there you have it, while everything seems to be in place, something comes up to destroy the build up of excitement. It's becoming clearer each day that keeping up with the Joneses will be one of the hardest task I've ever attempted. I still have much faith that Indy IV will be made, so don't give up on them people. We'll keep you up to date!

Sean Connery Confirmed for Indy 4!
June 17th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

In an interview with Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise, JoBlo.com asked S.S. if there will be a fourth Indiana Jones:

"Yes sir, there will be. There was always gonna be a fourth INDIANA JONES starting about four years ago. And then we weren't able to agree on a story. We finally have a story and Frank Darabont's gonna write it and we'll start shooting in May or June of 2004 and it's gonna be out on the July 4th weekend of 2005. The only thing that'll change that is the unforeseen. But Harrison's committed, George has committed, I've committed, Frank's committed and we're all really gung-ho to do it."

Then he was asked if Sean Connery will return:

"Uh…there's a huge bunch of spoilers I don't want to give away now but…yes."

This is wonderful news! Having Connery return as Henry Jones will surely make this movie! We'll keep you updated! Thanks to Kenny C for the info!

Ford Talks Indy IV Delays
June 17th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

In an interview with Sci-Fi Wire, Harrison Ford spoke about Indy IV. When he was asked about how he felt about critics saying he was too old to play Indiana Jones, he said: "I don't. I've never been responsive to critics." Here's more from the interview:

"Ford said in an interview that delays in the project were not due to his script approval, but rather to an interest in the well-being of the franchise.

"It's not a question of my input," Ford said. "It's a question of what our collaborative capacity is, working with George Lucas and Steven Spielberg. It's not a question of obtaining control over the situation, but all of us working together with our combined ambition to make a film which is as good as the ones we made before."

I, like most fans, think that Ford's not too old to play Indy in any way. The film is set in the 1950's so Ford playing Indy again should be no problem.

Will Indy IV Be Filmed Digitally?
June 16th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

The Huston Chronicle interviewed Spielberg on the subject of Minority Report and Spielberg talk a little about Indy IV being filmed digitally. Here's what he had to say:

"Spielberg expects a battle with its producer.

"My friend George Lucas is trying to get me to do Indy 4 digitally," he said of the adventure film, to be set in the 1950s to keep pace with Ford's age (almost 60).

"But I don't want to shoot digitally. There's a mystery, a magic and a chemistry in film. Digital isn't chemistry. It's unfailing technology."

After seeing Attack of the Clones in a digital theater, I didn't see much difference. Then when I saw it in my local non-digital theater, it looked rather crummy, as though it had been shot with a home video camera. So I sure hope Spielberg wins this dispute, but that's just me!

GameZone Reviews Emperor's Tomb!
June 15th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

GameZone.com has released its new Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb review! Here's what they had to say:

"1935. In the jungles of Ceylon, famed archaeologist Indiana Jones has encountered the first of several bad guys there to stop him from recovering a piece of one of the worlds more powerful artifacts.

There is no time for small talk. Indy sets the man up with a short jab to the jaw, then a roundhouse right, and a two-fisted backhand smash that drops the foe like tea into Boston Harbor. Just for good measure, while the guy is down, Indy delivers a hard kick to the man’s …"

GameZone.com raves about the graphics, and how they're done a good job at capturing Ford's appearance. The game features 10 levels, one including a 15th century castle. It's looking more and more like this game will become the greatest Indy game yet! Even surpassing Fate of Atlantis!

Indy IV To Begin Filming This Year?
June 14th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

Kenny C. sent us the following from Cinescape:

In a surprising quote from Paramount Pictures president Sherry Lansing indicated the recently announced INDIANA JONES 4 could start shooting… later this year.

That’s right, but that’s not definite. Read the quotes yourself.

While talking exclusively to a CINESCAPE reporter at the 28th annual Saturn Awards, Lansing said, “It looks like it’s real. As you know, we concluded our deal with Steven [Spielberg] and George [Lucas] and they have a writer writing… As soon as their happy with it, along with Harrison [Ford], I’m sure we’ll be happy too. I certainly hope it’s within this year we get to start making this movie. I don’t know if it will be, but I can hope. We’re really, really excited, and I know they’re excited. They’re keeping it very close to their vest.”

She said it would still be a 2005 release. But if it did start shooting this year?

“Well you know. I live in hope,” she said. So do we.

Well, who knows? Indy IV might begin filming this year, but don't get your hopes up too high. We'll keep you updated!

STARLOG Interview with Steven Spielberg!
June 14th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

Kenny C. sent me the StarLog interview with Steven Spielberg, here it is:

STARLOG: What's the latest on Indy 4?

SPIELBERG: "That is happening. We have a writer, but I am not officially allowed to announce the writer's name until the trades get it. I cannot wait to make this film. I think it's going to make all of us feel like kids again. To be able to get Harrison Ford, George Lucas and me back together again is a dream come true. I was just happy making three. It was Harrison who really wanted to make another Indiana Jones movie, and he was very tenacious whenever we were together about reminding me that there were wonderful stories we haven't told. So he lit the fire under both George and me, and that's why we are making it. It's thanks to him."

Well, there you have it. The pieces are starting to fall together. We'll keep you updated!

Last Monday on Oprah, Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise appeared. But what you didn't see, was a question and answer where Spielberg talked about Indy IV! Without even being asked, Spielberg said, "I am going to do my fourth Indiana Jones film in 2004." And the crowd went nuts! "With Harrison?" Oprah asked. "Yes with Harrison." he said. Here comes the best part, Spielberg also said, "Remember that great line from Raiders were Harrison said its not the years honey, it's the mileage? Now he is going to have to say 'it's not the mileage but the years'." Then Oprah asked, "So it's coming out in 2004?" Steven said, "I am making it in 2004 and it's going to come out in 2005." Very exciting! Thanks to Kenny C. for the news! Keep checking back for more updates!

Spielberg Talks Indy IV Production Date!
June 12th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

Sci-Fi Wire reported that Spielberg said there will be no more sequels to his sci-fi classics except for Indiana Jones. Here's what he had to say:

"As for the sequel Spielberg is making, the veteran writer/director/producer was characteristically mute on the details of the fourth Indiana Jones film. He did, however, disclose a proposed time frame for the project. "I can only tell you that our best estimate of production on this picture is May of '04 to start shooting and late June to 4th of July for the release in '05," he said."

New Emperor's Tomb Info!
June 11th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

With the help of an inside connection to LucasArts, I've obtained the following information on the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb game from someone within LucasArts:

  • First off, I asked if there was any tie-in to the game and Temple of Doom. The answer's no, not explicitly.
  • One character from Temple of Doom is in the game, Wu Han, the waiter from ToD, who makes a brief appearance in the game but does not tie in with the story.
  • Finally we have the issue of the music of Emperor's Tomb. The music is all original with the exception of the Raiders March.

There you have it! Although this does clear up a few questions we've had hanging over our heads, there's still much left to be learned, and you'll bet we'll be here to tell you all about it!

Hope you found this informative. Keep checking back for more updates!

Paramount's Lansing Talks Indy IV!
June 11th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

Cinescape.com featured an article on Indy IV today. Paramount President Sherry Lansing received the Dr. Donald A. Reed award at the 28th annual Saturn Awards, just after accepting the award, she talked about the upcoming Indy IV. Here's what she had to say:

“We just concluded the deal with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas [for INDY 4],” she recounted about the deal everyone’s been talking about for the last week. “They’ve picked the screenwriter they want [Frank Darabont] and AS soon as they have a daft they’re happy with, I’m sure I’ll be happy. I think we all will. They’re playing it very close to the vest, so I don’t know much about where the plot is going. I’m lighting candles every day, hoping that this film will be made sooner rather than later.”

Well, there you have it, the pieces are starting the fall into place, and as Donavan would say, "As you can now see Dr. Jones, we're about to complete a great quest, that began almost 2,000 years ago." And I'm sure that's how all Indy fans feel. Check back for more updates!

Darabont Talks Indy IV!
June 10th, 2002| Posted by Aaron

Cinescape had an exclusive interview with Frank Darabont on the subject of Indy IV. Cinescape confirms that Darabont is going to write Indy IV. Darabong is best known for his work on The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. Here's some of what Darabont had to say:

“That was a great call to get,” Darabont told CINESCAPE last week. “George called about a month ago and said, ‘Would you be interested in doing this, we’re looking for a writer.’ And I said, ‘Yeah, George, I’m there.’ It’s the only gig I’ve taken sight unseen.”

Now everyone can stop waiting for producer George Lucas and director Steven Spielberg to tell us “when” (the movie incidentally has a tentative July 2005 release date) and now start wondering “what.”

For Darabont, that “what” is still even a mystery to him.

“I have no idea at this point what the movie is about,” says Darabont. “I’m putting my faith in Steven and George – I will be their writing vessel.”

He also added:

“The first film is a classic,” admits Darabont, who’s looking forward to the assignment. “RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK is the one film that would be on a desert island with me.”

Go here to read more.

Well, there you have it, Darabont is the official Indy IV writer, and a good choice as well. Now it's just a matter of time, and we'll be there to keep you up to date!

After a week's vacation in Virginia U.S., I'm here to bring you the highlights from last week's Indy News. First off, from the Chicago Sun-Times comes an interview with Frank Marshal where Marshal confirms Indy IV. Here's what he had to say:

"We're definitely going to do it," he says. "We're setting a 2004 production date." As for star Harrison Ford getting a bit long in the tooth to play Jones, Marshall says that Indy will still wear the hat proudly, but perhaps with a few aches and pains. "We will deal with the age issue," Marshall says."

He went on to say that the Frank Darabont rumors were just that and went on to say; "There is no script yet and no one has been hired regardless of what has been reported." Tom Hanks was also mentioned to appear in Indy IV as well. Very interesting. ;-) Check back for more updates!

Spielberg Confirms Recent Indy IV News!
June 1st, 2002| Posted by Aaron

Cinescape.com posted a tid-bit from the July edition of Cinescape magazine which featured an interview with Spielberg on Indy IV. He confirmed that Frank Darabont is currently writing the screenplay for Indy IV, and that they (Spielberg, Lucas, and Ford) all have a story that they agree on. He confirmed the June 29th or July 4th 2005 release date. He also assured fans of Harrison Ford's ability to continue his role as Indiana Jones. Here's what Spielberg said:

“The status is that Frank Darabont is starting – he’s writing the screenplay,” Spielberg told us about THE GREEN MILE, THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION writer/director. Darabont also wrote for the now-defunct YOUNG INDIANA JONES series and just did an uncredited rewrite on MINORITY REPORT. “We just made Frank’s deal two weeks ago. We have the story, which is a story George Lucas wrote. It’s a wonderful story. We have Harrison Ford, who’s approved the story. He’s ready to perform in the movie.”

He also confirmed the timetable for shooting the fourth chapter of the action-adventure series, “The movie’s going to be shot probably in May of 2004. When I say probably, it could be April or May of 2004 and the movie’s going to come out probably for the July 4th weekend of 2005, because the last STAR WARS is going to come out the week before Memorial Day 2005. So we’re coordinating this to be a one-two punch with the last STAR WARS coming out in 2005 in May and INDIANA JONES 4 coming out 2005, probably June 29th or July 4th.”

While that gives hope to fans of the highest grossing adventure series in history, more than a few fans wonder about Ford’s advancing years, given it will be almost 25 years since RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK before INDY 4 hits screens.

What does Spielberg think?

“Harrison Ford can still kick the s**t out of most people half his age,” Spielberg told us. “I think he’s in great condition to put the fedora and the hat and the leather jacket back on and crack that bullwhip a few more times.”

Well, there you have it, it's as official as you can get, Spielberg has confirmed Darabont and the release date! It's only a matter of time.
