New Indiana Jones 12" Figure Coming Soon!
June 28th, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

We've been getting a lot of tips from TIE.c readers about a new Indiana Jones 12" figure that will be debuting in the coming months.  It looks like another Disney Exclusive will be hitting shelves at the Disney Indiana Jones attractions, and this time we'll have a full 12" Indy action figure!

It was reported on the Rebelscum Forums that Disney will be unveiling a new Indiana Jones toy at the 2004 International G.I. Joe Convention that is being held at the Walt Disney World Resort area, July 1st - 4th.  The convention is being held at the Contemporary Resort and the new Indiana Jones figure will supposedly be viewable at both the Contemporary Resort and Once Upon a Toy Store in Downtown Disney.

No further information is available at this time, but we should have some more details in the coming weeks.  It's been a while since an affordable Indiana Jones 12" figure has been available to the public, and it looks like we'll soon be able to get our hands on a new Indy collectable.  Stay tuned to TIE.c for the latest!

Thanks to Harry Moore, Brandon, Carl & Brian for the tips!

Atlantis Discovered Off the Coast of Spain?
June 11th, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

We have some Indy related archaeology news for you this afternoon.  The archaeology journal, Antiquity reported that archaeologist may have discovered the lost city of Atlantis in a salt marsh off the coast of Spain.  The discovery was made through satellite photos and appear to show part of an ancient temple.

The photograph (left) appears to depict part of a ring-like structure.  This would match the description of Atlantis made by Plato, hence the three ring city that we all remember from Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

Very interesting news.  Let's hope an excavation has been planned to learn more about this archaeological find.  We'll just have to wait and see what comes of it, stay tuned!  Thanks to Discovery.com for the news and the photograph.

Indiana Jones at #7 in Premiere Magazine
June 4th, 2004 | Posted by Aaron

Yeah, it's old news, but Premiere Magazine's website has the list of 100 Greatest Film Characters with Indiana Jones at #7:

7. Indiana Jones
Played by Harrison Ford in Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981, dir. Steven Spielberg) and two later films

Named after producer George Lucas’s dog, Indy was a new kind of action hero. His academic background, fear of snakes, and difficulty communicating with his father helped audiences to relate to him. But it was Ford’s grizzled charm and vulnerability (both emotional and physical) that maintained the illusion that Indy was ordinary, even when he was outrunning gigantic boulders or Nazis.

Defining Moment: In Raiders’s brilliantly choreographed opening sequence, Indy overcomes several treacherous challenges to nab a priceless artifact, only to lose it to his nemesis Renι Belloq. Never has a hero appeared so courageous, obsessed, and cursed at the same time. (Paramount DVD)

Well, number seven ain't bad.  Look at it this way, Indy finally beat out Atticus Finch.  Go here to view the whole list.

Thanks to Spielbergfilms for the tip!
