LucasArts
just updated their Emperor's
Tomb section with a new screen shot, and the interview with Drew
Struzan including the box art to the up and coming Indiana Jones game!
LucasArts.com:
How does your approach for a game box cover differ from other types
of projects?
Drew Struzan: Every project has its similarities and every project
is different unto itself. The thing that stands out as different with
games seems to be the lack of related materials to work from. With
movies, there is usually a great deal of photography from the film
to refer to... Read

LucasArts has finally
posted their exclusive interview with Drew Struzan on the creation
of the new Emperor's Tomb box art! The Interview is very good,
and definitely worth a read. It covers Struzan's past projects,
and discusses how he created the box art for Emperor's Tomb.
Possibly one of the best Struzan interviews out there.

Star
Wars Insider: 'Indy IV Update!'
November

I just
received my newest issue of The Star Wars Insider and in it was a
very encouraging article featuring an interview with Rick McCollum
about Indy IV and it's status. In it McCallum confirms that
it is to be released in 2005, and that the production won't interfere
with Episode III at all. Here's the full article:
Indy
4 Update
Fans have
been abuzz with rumors about the start date of the fourth Indian Jones
movie. When Harrison
Ford mentioned a few months ago that filming could start as early
as next summer, we asked McCallum.
We
could use more problems like that one.
“That’s
what the plan is. Hopefully,
the film will be completed by 2005.”
He noted that the plan is dependent on getting a screenplay
that everyone likes.
Fans
who worry that second Lucasfilm production might distract from Episode
III have nothing to fear. “Steven
Spielberg is directing," reports McCallum, "and Frank [Marshall]
is producing, so even though George will have written the story for
it—the screen play is being written by Frank Darabont now—we’ll be
making Star Wars, so we’re locked away, basically, and they’ll
go ahead and make Indy.”
Considering
the prospect of both an Indiana Jones and Star Wars movie coming
out in 2005, McCallum remarked, “I think it would be a wonderful summer
for Lucasfilm. They’d
be separated by enough time that they won’t compete directly with
other.”
Very
exciting news, I can't wait! You can read this article and more
from the December 2002.January 2003 Issue #64 of The Star Wars Insider!

Talks Indy IV!
November

A reader
at AICN
talked with Frank Darabont and also about Indy IV and it's current
status:
Indiana
Jones 4: Darabont is currently going through the 1st Act and he has
weekly/twice weekly story meetings with Spielberg. The two of them
are still coming up with the 3rd act, but Lucas has basically handed
the ball off to Spielberg. Darabont said that he's trying to be very
true to the character, but without being repetitive.....he doesn't
want to simply give us a rehash of the last 3 films.

Ford Talks Indy IV!
November
7th, 2002 | Posted by Aaron
More talk
of Indy IV The
Age interviewed Ford, and in it the issue of Indy IV came up,
and of course, his age (what a surprise). Here's some of what
he said:
Didn't
Ford once say he'd never pick up Indy's bullwhip, sidearm and battered
fedora again? He doesn't remember making it permanent, but, yes, he
did say he needed a break from the role. He now figures he's taken
a long enough break. But how to put this delicately? maybe the break
was too long? Did we mention that Ford is now 60?
He shrugs.
"You can bring up the 'O' word," he says. "Well, what's
too old any more when you have Jack Palance doing one-armed push-ups?
Anybody want to ask Regis Philbin if he's too old? I wouldn't. It's
all a reflection of life.
"What
astonishes me," he says, "is that people can't imagine Indiana
Jones ageing at all. Why expect any character to be frozen in time?
The appeal of Indiana Jones isn't his youth but his imagination, his
resourcefulness ... His physicality is a big part of it, especially
in the way he gets out of tight situations. But it's not all hitting
people and falling from high places. My ambition in action is to have
the audience look straight in the face of a character and not at the
back of a capable stuntman's head. I hope to continue to do that,
no matter how old I get.
"Besides,
the chance to work with Steven and George again is certainly something
I look forward to. If we can come up with the right story, great."
Well, he makes a lot of
good points on the age issue, personally I don't think it should even
be an issue, he looks fine to me, I've yet to see fans truly worried
about his age. Indy IV is going to happen, and it is happening.
Darabont is working hard at preparing a script, they've already got
a story line that they all agree with (according the earlier rumors),
time has been laid out for a 2004 shooting date, and everything seems
to be on go, what's there to worry about?. Indy IV IS coming.

more details and for Ford's full interview.
